Disney-ABC makes investment in finance duo

Disney-ABC TV Group prexy Anne Sweeney has promoted CFO-senior VPs Jewell Engstrom and James L. Hedges to chief financial officers-exec VPs.

Engstrom will handle all finance-related issues for the Disney ABC Cable Networks Group, while Hedges will handle the area for ABC and Touchstone TV Studios. Both Burbank-based execs will continue to report to Sweeney.

Engstrom adds finance and accounting responsibilities for all 23 of the cable group’s international networks to her bailiwick. She will continue to be responsible for transactions for domestic cablers ABC Family, Disney Channel, Toon Disney and SoapNet, in addition to the Walt Disney TV Animation production studio. Exec also will report on Disney’s equity interest in Lifetime Entertainment Services, A&E TV Networks and E! Networks.

Hedges will continue to oversee all financial aspects for the Alphabet and Touchstone TV, including accounting, financial reporting, planning and deal analysis.

Engstrom has held several finance management positions during her 15 years at Disney, andbefore that, worked in the financial services group of Price Waterhouse.

Hedges joined the ABC Entertainment TV Group in 1999 as a senior VP of finance and planning. Previously, he spent four years overseeing the syndie division of Buena Vista TV, where he last served as VP of finance and CFO. He also held positions at Lucasfilm, TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
