Annual benefit puts actors on the spot

The challenge: Write, rehearse and perform six 10-minute plays for “The 24-Hour Plays,” the annual benefit held Monday at the American Airlines Theater.

Rachel Dratch, Rosie Perez, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, Cheyenne Jackson and Elizabeth Berkley were among those who turned out for the event, held to support arts-in-education org Working Playground. They showed up at 8 a.m. to rehearse plays that had been written during an overnighter pulled by scribes including David Lindsay-Abaire and Warren Leight.
