NEW YORK — Sony Pictures Television has named Bryan Bowles senior VP of pay TV.
Bowles will oversee the pay TV group, in particular working to develop strategies for the newly combined Sony and MGM film libraries.
He will report to distribution prexy John Weiser and work with pay TV veep Thanda Belker, who just came to SPT from Sony Pictures Intl. She will be responsible for sales strategy.
Moves come in the wake of a recent Sony exec reorg which put SPT prexy Steve Mosko in charge of Sony’s pay cable business (Daily Variety, April 8).
Weiser said Bowles and Belker will make a good team, calling Belker a “perfect strategist.” He “understands the business, new technology and where the industry is going,” Weiser added.
Bowles began with Sony Pictures Television in 2000 as a manager of business development before rising to VP and was involved in the recent MGM transition.
