Sony Pictures Television Intl.’s expansion into Central Europe is on track with action-adventure channel AXN, which now reaches 3 million households in the region spanning six countries.
“The dynamic growth in our distribution figures in Central Europe proves that the acquisition of some of the hottest new products in television was a good investment,” said Tom Davidson, general manager of AXN in Central Europe.
AXN is seen in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria. Channel offers U.S. and European series such as “Lost,” “CSI: NY,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Medicopter” and “The Shield,” as well as reality skeins “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” in local language versions, targeting the 18-34 demo.
AXN is seen in 50 countries across Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The channel launched on German cabler Kabel Deutschland in November.
