Showtime’s ‘Sleeper’ wakes up thesp

'Cell' breaks out

WHAT: Showtime’s “Sleeper Cell” preem Monday

WHO: Cast Michael Ealy, Oded Fehr, James LeGros, Henri Lubatti, Alexis Nesic, Blake Shields and Melissa Sagemiller, plus creators-executive producers Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris

WHERE: Westwood’s Crest Theater with an after-bash at Eurochow

FEAR FACTOR: “I would say enjoy, but I’m not quite sure that ‘enjoy’ is the right word,” Showtime’s Robert Greenblatt said of the 10-part drama series chronicling the inner workings of a Los Angeles-based Islamic terrorist group.

For Ealy, who plays a Muslim FBI agent infiltrating the cell, the show is much more than cheap thrills and chills. “Sure, it’s terrifying to watch a show about terrorists planning attacks on local landmarks. But that fear creates an awareness, and I’d much rather be aware than ignorant.”
