SevenOne gets ‘Clever!’ to CCTV

SevenOne Intl. has sold German web Sat.1’s gamer format “Clever!” to China’s CCTV in the run-up to the Mipcom mart in Cannes, Oct 17-21.

Produced by Constantin Entertainment, “Clever” pits celebrities against each other as they try to explain scientific mysteries, such as why a slice of bread always lands on the buttered side when it falls.

“The sale marks the breakout of our formats beyond Europe and into the Asian market,” said SevenOne Intl. topper Jens Richter.

Deal follows recent high-profile sales of SevenOne’s “Schiller Street,” an interactive improv sitcom format, to Fox Television for North America, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.

“Clever!” and “Schiller Street” are among 60 titles which SevenOne will flog at Mipcom.

SevenOne is the sales division of Haim Saban’s ProSiebenSat.1 TV group.
