HOLLYWOOD — Sony Pictures Classics threw the party first, serving up the U.S. preem of Brit crime pic “Layer Cake” for dessert Monday at the Egyptian Theater.
Producer-turned-director Matthew Vaughn, who arrived with wife Claudia Schiffer, was enthusiastic about his helming debut. “I had the time of my life,” he said. “I’ll do it again if they’ll let me.”
Vaughn already has his next gig lined up, directing “X-Men 3,” but said he has to keep mum on details of the mutant sequel.
“Cake” star Daniel Craig said the pic is very much in the Brit crime mold established by the likes of “Get Carter.” “British crime movies deal with the individual. U.S. crime movies are more about the family,” he said.
