Ferrell's latest laffer is a sporting good time

HOLLYWOOD — Juggling between well-wishers and fans, with friends and family in tow, Will Ferrell had plenty of balls in the air — soccer balls, natch — before Sunday afternoon’s “Kicking and Screaming” preem at Universal.

Ferrell, who plays a coach who turns from nice guy to dictator, said youth sports is ripe for comedy. And the sweatsuit-clad actor, a former athlete at USC, said the pic gave him reason to believe he might join the coaching fraternity in the near future.

“In about six years, I might want to coach my son’s team,” Ferrell said. “I may look back and say it was foolhardy, but who knows?”
