Pan-European broadcaster SBS’ digital strategy is already beginning to bear fruit.
Revenues in the first quarter climbed 24% to E175 million ($220 million), up from $176.6 million year on year. Some 11% of that hike is credited to new acquisitions and launches.
Among them is the Nordic paybox C More Group, as well as a music TV net in Scandinavia, two femme channels in Hungary and Belgium, a hike in its stake in Prima TV in Romania and more radio ops.
SBS announced earlier this year it would focus on increasing revs through diversification into pay and digital TV as well as radio launches.
It also pared down net losses 21% from $4.9 million to $3.8 million as it continues to cut costs.
