Rock booms with ‘Doom’

U preem rocks CityWalk

WHAT: U’s “Doom” preem Monday.

WHO: Helmer Andrzej Bartkowiak; writers David Callaham and Wesley Strick; cast, including Dwayne (the Rock) Johnson and Rosamund Pike; plus producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and John Wells

WHERE: Universal’s habitual CityWalk unspooling with an after-bash at Hard Rock Cafe.

BEHIND THE BODY: Johnson may be hailed more for full-body slams than method acting, but those behind U’s vidgame adaptation of “Doom” insist that a real thesp lies behind his brash, catchphrase-spewing WWE persona.

As Wells puts it: “Any actor who is known for one role has a tough time proving themselves, but Johnson has shown an impressive range. No one took Robin Williams seriously, and now he’s winning Oscars for dramatic performances.” (Williams nabbed supporting actor for 1997’s “Good Will Hunting.”)
