Recalling the King

New tuner praises Presley

If you added up the ages of the three stars of the Elvis Presley tuner “All Shook Up” you might get more than 70, which is how old the King would be today.

At Thursday’s Copacabana preem party, the young ones revealed what they knew, and didn’t know, about the rock ‘n’ roll legend. “I didn’t know the bigness of his repertoire,” said Nikki M. James. “For someone my age, Elvis is a brand name, a white jumpsuit and gold lame.”

“I was sort of familiar with the kitschy, over-the-top Elvis,” said Jenn Gambatese. “I’ve now learned that he was passionate, that Elvis did nothing halfway.”

Of course, someone named Cheyenne Jackson must have Presley in his genes. Sure enough, the headliner revealed, “I grew up on Elvis. My family didn’t listen to Christmas carols. We listened to Elvis’s ‘Blue Christmas.’ “
