Primacom bows Easy TV in Austria

German cable op Primacom has launched a digital paybox in Austria.

Easy TV is broadcast via satellite by ORS, which also handles Austrian pubcaster ORF’s digital service.

In contrast to other feevees in Austria like UPS and Premiere, Easy TV’s offer is not bundled in bouquets — subscribers pay for each channel individually.

Easy TV is starting out with six channels, including National Geographic and action pic-focused Silverline.

Meanwhile, Germany’s biggest cabler, Kabel Deutschland, is to expand its telephony business to 15 other cities in Germany this year.

It has completed a pilot project in Leipzig and will offer telephony in regions where it has already upgraded cable lines for high-speed Internet access.
