SAN DIEGO — Sunday’s “Stealth” premiere was payback time for Sony and the Navy: As a means of saying thanks for filmmaking cooperation, pic preemed at the Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, Calif.
The premiere included a flyover by a trio of FA-18 Super Hornets, a party at the base’s officers club and the stars being taxied to the red carpet in fighter jets.
“The Navy was very helpful, and we wanted to share the premiere with them,” said Sony topper Amy Pascal.
While making the film, producer Neal Moritz spent a lot of time on U.S. aircraft carriers, which he said are a lot like moviemaking. “Aircraft carriers go very slow. They’re expensive. And if you want to change course, they’re hard to turn around.”
