Policing the pic promotions

Troma, 'Godiva' targeted by Cannes officials

Troma hit the streets Thursday promoting its slate of spoofs with only slight interference from the Cannes police.

One Troma performer said, “I am surprised with how tolerant the police are being this year.” In the past, Troma demonstrations have been shut down and arrests made. Perhaps the lack of policing on Troma is a result of Cannes authorities focusing their attention elsewhere.

Thursday, the festival organizers banned a photo call for the film “Lady Godiva…Get Back in the Saddle.”

The decision was based on reports from festival organizers that the film, which is not a part of the festival program, was getting too much attention from the press.
