NEW YORK — Jeff Skoll’s Participant Prods. has tapped attorney Meredith Blake to serve as senior VP of corporate and community affairs.
Skoll, founder of eBay, said Blake will develop awareness campaigns around the social issues raised in Participant’s film projects by lining up nonprofit, corporate and media partners to help audiences get involved.
Participant’s first film project is Stephen Gaghan’s upcoming “Syriana,” starring George Clooney and Matt Damon, which it is co-producing with Warner Bros.
Pic, skedded for release on Sept. 16, tells the story of a veteran CIA counter-terrorism agent who watches in frustration as the world grows more dangerous even as funding is slashed for investigations and sound judgment overtaken by politics.
Participant and Warners also are co-producing an untitled projected helmed by Niki Caro (“Whale Rider”), about the first sexual harassment case in the U.S. Charlize Theron stars.
Blake previously served as CEO of Break the Cycle, a nonprofit org working to end domestic violence.
