Battista claims departures come after bad review
NEW YORK — Gemstar-TV Guide Intl. on Friday announced the sudden departure of two top execs, including TV Guide Television Group prexy Ian Aaron.
Aaron left the company, while TV Guide Consumer Electronics prexy Doug Macrae resigned, Gemstar said in a statement. Both changes were effective immediately.
For now, newly installed Gemstar-TV Guide CEO Rich Battista will oversee the Television Group, which includes TV Guide Channel and TV Guide Interactive.
Battista said the departures come after his detailed review of the financially troubled company, in which News Corp. has a controlling interest.
TV Guide Consumer Electronics chief operating officer Michael McKee will run that unit on an operating basis.
Company also said Gemstar exec VP of administration Gloria Dickey will be leaving the firm, but did not provide an exit date.
