P4Media gives Fox ride into Africa

Licensing pact covers English-speaking sub-Saharan Africa

CANNES — Programs4Media, an international program acquirer and distributor, is launching a wholly owned unit called Programs4Africa (P4A) that will specialize in distribution across Africa.

In a first deal, Programs4Africa has just inked an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox TV Distribution to be the Hollywood major’s licensing rep in English-speaking sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) beginning in November.

P4A will represent all Fox movies, telepics, series, specials and U.S. versions of reality series — everything from “Kingdom of Heaven” to “24.”

The P4M team will attend the upcoming Sithengi Programming Market in Cape Town Nov. 16-19.

P4M managing director Michael Schlagman said, “The creation of a dedicated sales company is a logical extension to our existing business and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the region. Our relationship with Fox will provide us with the quality, innovative programming we need.”
