World Brief

Broadcasters will be allowed greater discretion in showing controversial scenes after 9 p.m. after media regulator Ofcom unveiled reforms to rules that cover TV and radio nets on Wednesday.

However, hard-core porn continues to be banned.

The watchdog also nixed product placement but will reconsider the issue later this year.

New regs go into effect in July.
