Broadcaster Modern Times Group, Sweden’s largest publicly traded media company, has extended its exclusive rights to broadcast Uefa Champions League soccer games in the Nordic region until the championship that ends in 2009.

Games will air on Viasat’s terrestrial and pay TV channels. Viasat already held the exclusive rights to the championship until the end of the 2005-06 season.

Subscribers to the Viasat digital satellite premium pay TV platform will be able to watch live coverage of all 125 matches each season, and the games will be broadcast on Viasat’s TV3, ZTV, TV3+ and Viasat Sport channels.

Uefa is European soccer’s ruling body.
