Methe under Cirque’s tent

Producer to head troupe's movie/television division

MONTREAL — Canuck film-TV producer Jacques Methe will replace Vincent Gagne as head of Cirque du Soleil Images, the movie and television division of the live performance troupe, it was announced Monday.

As G.M., Methe will manage all TV, film and DVD projects for Montreal-based Cirque.

Methe, currently an independent producer, was formerly general manager of Atlantique Prods. in Paris and was prexy of Allegro Films in Montreal.

“Cirque du Soleil will benefit from his international expertise and his strong management skills,” said Eric Fournier, senior VP of new ventures at Cirque du Soleil.

Previous Cirque du Soleil TV projects include “Cirque du Soleil: The Fire Within,” which won a Primetime Emmy, and “Cirque du Soleil Presents Dralion,” which won three.
