‘Life’ in the Broadway fast lane

Legit opener welcomed by lukewarm reviews

The new Broadway tuner “In My Life” missed its mark with the critics, but at least writer-composer-lyricist-director Joseph Brooks saw it coming.

“We’ll get trashed. I’m certain of it,” Brooks said the night before the reviews came out, at the show’s opening-night party Thursday at the Millennium Hotel’s Hudson Theater.

Brooks, the composer of “You Light up My Life” and a slew of jingles, added by way of explanation, “We’re so different. We’re so new. We’re cutting edge.”
