It’s O’Hearn’s ‘Week’ at ABC

News skein has been without a producer

NEW YORK — ABC News appointed Kathy O’Hearn executive producer of “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” which trails NBC and CBS in Sunday morning ratings.

“This Week” has been without a producer since Tom Bettag returned to “Nightline” after longtime co-producer Leroy Sievers ankled in November over disagreements about the show’s direction.

As of last week, the ABC Sunday morning public affairs show was bringing in 2.2 million viewers, compared to NBC’s “Meet the Press With Tim Russert” (3.4 million) and CBS’ “Face the Nation” (2.5 million).

Fox’s “News Sunday” comes in a distant fourth (1 million viewers), but during May sweeps it defeated “This Week” in the all-important Washington, D.C.-area media market with a 1.9 rating, compared to 1.3 for “This Week.”
