'Sex and the City' man creates sudser for Frog
The creator of “Sex and the City” is headed to the Hamptons for the WB.
Sony-based producer Darren Star is finalizing a deal with the Frog to create a sudser set in New York’s ritzy beach playground. No writer is yet attached.
The WB is expected to make a pilot commitment to the project.
Star is no stranger to the Frog: He created the critically loved cult comedy “Grosse Pointe” back in 2000. New project would be his first collaboration with the WB since David Janollari took over as president of entertainment.
Star’s Sony-based shingle is busy setting up several other projects around town. Star also is prepping for the launch of his Fox comedy “Kitchen Confidential,” which has been the subject of positive preseason buzz.
Reps for the WB and Sony declined comment, as did Star’s reps.
