Disney pic gets a chilly welcome
HOLLYWOOD — “Ice Princess” got a cold reception at its preem Sunday afternoon — and that’s exactly what the toppers at Disney were hoping for.
Behind the El Capitan after the pic’s unspooling, girls with tiaras and skates could be found lacing up and gliding around the newly installed rink.
And in what must’ve been a busy day for the newly crowned Mouse House chief exec, Bob Iger found time to join fellow Mouse execs Dick Cook and Nina Jacobson to give this “Princess” a royal sendoff.
Michelle Trachtenberg said it was a difficult film to prep for — eight months of figure staking training prior to lensing, in order to perform her lutzes and toe loops with as much accuracy as possible.
“It was as though I was practicing to be a real skater,” she said.
Speaking of the pros, Scott Hamilton, Tai Babilonia, Randy Gardner and Dorothy Hamill showed up to support “Princess.”
