Hart to star in ‘Dirtbags’

Woodard will guest on NBC pilot

Melissa Joan Hart has signed on to star in her first sitcom since “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” left the airwaves, joining the cast of Fox’s pilot “Dirtbags.”

Alfre Woodard (“The Forgotten”), meanwhile, will guest in the NBC drama pilot “Inconceivable,” while Leslie Hope (“Line of Fire”) will reunite with Rod Lurie on his latest entry, the ABC pilot “Commander in Chief.”

Hart is set to play Kate in “Dirtbags,” which follows the exploits of thirtysomething pals in blue-collar Boston. 20th Century Fox TV is behind the show.

Hart’s other credits include the ABC Family reality skein “Tying the Knot: The Wedding of Melissa Joan Hart” and the series “Clarissa Explains It All.” She also starred in the feature “Drive Me Crazy.”

Woodard, meanwhile, will play Lydia on “Inconceivable,” which follows the lives of doctors, psychologists and lawyers at a fertility clinic.

Thesp’s recent credits include the feature “Radio” and the telepic “Wrinkle in Time.”

Hope — best known for her turn as Jack Bauer’s wife on season one of “24” — will star as the attorney general in “Commander in Chief.” Show revolves around Geena Davis as the nation’s first woman president.

Part was originally written for a man, but reworked to fit Hope. Actress could become a series regular if “Commander” goes to series.

In other casting news, Tina Majorino (“Napoleon Dynamite”) has been cast in ABC’s untitled Peter Dinklage comedy, from Touchstone TV. Pilot stars Dinklage as an unusual teacher.

Also, Amber Heard will play Serena, while Chris Egan is set as Zach and Noel Fisher is on board as Triscuit on the WB drama pilot “The Prince.” Soap opera comes from Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti-Liddell and Fort Hill Prods.
