'Brothers' preems at the DGA
HOLLYWOOD — Miramax’s “The Brothers Grimm” preem Monday provided far more grin than grim.
Giddy fans got to check out topliners Matt Damon and Heath Ledger on the carpet, while inside the Directors Guild of America Theater, helmer Terry Gilliam set the tone with his self-deprecating humor. “I hope you can stay awake for the next couple hours,” he told the aud.
Ledger said he and Damon bonded through the creative process, which began prior to lensing thanks to Gilliam’s order that the lads spend time together off the set.
Damon and Ledger agreed that Gilliam is always specific about what he wants. And sometimes, the director just wants to have fun, like the time he threw ravens at Ledger, who was trying to keep his balance on a rooftop.
