'Bullets' zoom through H'wood
HOLLYWOOD — Zoot-suited wise guys and red-boa’ed ladies roamed the Roosevelt Hotel Thursday for Playboy’s Prohibition Party.
Event followed the Hollywood Film Fest’s bow of producer-helmer Elaina Archer‘s docu “Bullets Over Hollywood,” skedded to preem Dec. 2 on Encore.
On-camera project commentator and goodfella Henry Hill, though absent, was the talk of the night. So how did Archer nab the mob rat? She called the publisher of his cookbook.
“Bullets,” which marks Archer’s fifth project with exec producer Hugh Hefner and his Alta Loma Prods., was inspired by her fave childhood pastime — Sunday afternoon viewings of “The Godfather.”
“It’s the fascination with life on the other side, where we won’t actually go,” Starz marketing executive veep Jerry Maglio said of the success of the gangster pic (and the view of the gangster as a folk hero). “It’s the vicariousness of our own alter ego.
