The new shingle from Tom Werner, Eric Gold and Jimmy Miller is expanding its talent pool, inking comic Lynne Koplitz to a talent holding deal.
Under the six-figure pact, Warner Bros. TV-based Werner-Gold-Miller — headed by prexy Mike Clements — will develop a half-hour laffer built around Koplitz. Discussions about possible writers to pair with Koplitz are already underway.
Werner has had some luck developing laffers starring female comics: At Carsey-Werner, he was part of the team behind “Roseanne” and Brett Butler starrer “Grace Under Fire.” Deal with Koplitz is the shingle’s first pact with a female thesp; it inked Russell Peters to a similar deal last month (Daily Variety, Sept. 12).
In addition to her stand-up act, Koplitz was one of the hosts of Sony Pictures Television’s recent syndie talker “Life & Style.” Previous hosting gigs include Telepictures’ “Change of Heart” and Food Network’s “How to Boil Water.”
