Ratner-produced 'Break' takes break for fete
What: Fox’s shindig for the launch of “Prison Break”
Who: Producers Paul Scheuring and Dawn Parouse, Fox’s Craig Erwich; cast Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Robin Tunney, Amaury Nolasco, Sarah Wayne Callies, Marshall Allman and Paul Adelstein. Exec producer and pilot helmer Brett Ratner was absent, lensing “X-Men 3” in Canada.
Where: Fox River State Penitentiary (aka Hangar 8 at the Santa Monica Airport)
Why: To build buzz around the critically hailed drama, which bows next Monday. Fox and 20th TV think they just may have a hit on their hands — why not put the cart before the horse?
Behind Bars: Party planners transformed the hangar into a prison, complete with cells, cots and tray dinners — though the meat loaf and mashed potatoes were above par and guests were able to wash it down with a Vanilla Vodka and Baileys cocktail, dubbed the “Electric Chair,” instead of pruno. The straight and narrow: After a humbling experience last week at a real prison near the show’s Chicago set, thesp Nolasco said: “Not so much as a parking ticket will go unpaid ever again.”
