Twentieth Century Fox TV wants another bite of Mango, signing former “Saturday Night Live” star Chris Kattan to another talent and production deal.
Under the pact, Kattan will develop, produce and star in a pilot for the studio. He inked a one-year deal with 20th Century Fox TV last year as well and headlined the ABC comedy pilot “Enough About Me” through the studio this past development season. The Alphabet web ultimately passed on the project.
Should another pilot evolve from the new deal, production shingle 3 Arts Entertainment, which reps the actor, is also onboard to produce, while 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg will serve as an exec producer.
Kattan and company are still mulling potential series ideas for the actor.
Thesp spent seven seasons on “SNL” before leaving the show in May 2003. Besides playing androgynous exotic dancer Mango, Kattan’s memorable characters included the half-simian Mr. Peepers and one-half of the Roxbury club-going Butabi brothers.
In the feature world, Kattan starred in “Corky Romano” and “Undercover Brother.” He’ll next be seen in the indie comedy feature “Adam and Steve,” set for release later this year.
