Fox TV falls forward

20th Century Fox TV offers seaside soiree

Only in the land of make-believe could a party celebrating the start of the fall TV season take place on a warm August night.

But that was just the scenario Wednesday as 20th Century Fox TV decided to beat the rush of autumnal affairs with a seaside soiree at Santa Monica’s Shutters on the Beach.

Hosted by studio toppers Dana Walden and Gary Newman, the relatively intimate bash brought out a slew of stars and producers from 20th’s roster of new and returning skeins.

“Over There” exec producers Steven Bochco and Chris Gerolmo showed up, as did Shawn Ryan and David Mamet, whose 20th-produced “The Unit” (starring another partygoer, Scott Foley) bows on CBS midseason.

Walden said she was psyched about the upcoming season, noting several of the shows getting big promo pushes this summer — “My Name Is Earl” (NBC), “Mother” (CBS) and “Prison Break” (Fox) — are produced by 20th.
