Helmer Greg Yaitanes will direct his next pilot for Fox.
Net has inked a one-year holding deal that makes the helmer’s pilot services exclusive to Fox during the upcoming development season.
Yaitanes recently directed the pilot for “Bones,” the Barry Josephson-produced drama skein that’s said to be a fave of Fox execs.
In addition to future “Bones” segs, Yaitanes will continue to direct multiple episodes of series for all networks. Among projects already booked: “Nip/Tuck” and “Over There” for FX; “The Closer” for TNT; and Fox’s “House.”
Fox drama chief Ted Gold said he only plans to make three or four director deals for the upcoming season, and that signing Yaitanes was an easy call.
“He did a bang-up job on ‘Bones,’ and come pilot season, he’s someone I want on our side,” Gold told Daily Variety.
Exec also cited the breadth of Yaitanes’ experience as a factor in the deal. Helmer directed the first episode of ABC’s “Empire” and the Sci Fi Channel mini “Children of Dune.”
“He’s done a lot of stuff I’d say was in the realm of ‘event’ programming, but he was also really able to capture the tone of a procedural drama like ‘Bones,’ ” Gold added.
