'Robots' preem rounds up revelers
The carnival — with some Blue Men in tow — rolled into Westwood on Sunday for the preem of Fox’s “Robots.”
Blue Man Group set the mood with the bang of a drum, as a bevy of jugglers, hula-hoopers and stilt-walkers turned as many heads as did the toon’s stars Ewan McGregor, Robin Williams and Halle Berry on the red carpet.
Fox turned the after-party into a carnival of a different sort, with the circus performers roaming a nearby UCLA parking lot transformed into a fairground complete with rides, cotton candy and corn dogs.
Parents and kids alike tried their hand at games of chance such as whack-a-mole and dart toss, with “Robot” tchotchkes and, strangely enough, toasters, for the victors.
Others concentrated on post-preem schmooze with execs including Fox’s Jim Gianopulos and Fox Animation’s Chris Meledandri.
Pic’s stars got into the carnival spirit: Berry gracefully whizzed down a three-story super-slide, while Williams levitated in the spinning YoYo ride. An overly exuberant Billy Bush kicked off his shoes from the same ride, narrowly missing onlookers below.
Also in the crowd: Matt Groening, Tim Bagley, “Napoleon Dynamite’s” Efren Ramirez and Matt Czuchry.
