‘Four’ plays out

Singleton's latest brings celebs to Meat Packing District

Wednesday’s world preem of John Singleton‘s “Four Brothers” brought the gritty urban feel of the Paramount actioner to the Meat Packing District, where guests were treated to the freestylings of Mos Def and DJ Biz Markie during an after-party at Aer.

Markie, one of Singleton’s favorite deejays, previously spun for the helmer at Par’s “Shaft” preem in 2000.

The presence of such heavyweights was no surprise; three of the four “brothers” — Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson and Andre (3000) Benjamin — have ties to the music biz.

Describing his attraction to the story, the tale of siblings who set out to avenge their mother’s death, Singleton said, “I wanted to do an urban Western — a ‘Dirty Harry’ or ‘Death Wish’ for this generation.”
