Appointments announced by DC prexy Levitz
NEW YORK — Gotham-based DC Comics, home to superhero characters Superman and Batman, has named former Zagat Survey and Reed Business Information exec Stephanie Fierman to serve as marketing chief, a newly created position.
The Warner Bros. subsid also tapped film exec Paula Lowitt senior VP of business and legal affairs. Appointments were announced by DC Comics prexy-publisher Paul Levitz.
Lowitt will be involved in all matters involving the continued expansion of film, TV and animated projects based on DC Comics characters. She previously worked at Senator Intl., an indie film finance company where she handled acquisitions, financing and distribution deals.
Before that, Lowitt was senior general counsel for Columbia Pictures.
As senior VP of sales and marketing, Fierman will oversee both direct sales and book trade activities, as well as all marketing efforts promoting the company’s brand across its own publications and products, including DC Comics, Vertigo, WildStorm, CMX and MAD magazine.
Most recently, Fierman was chief sales and marketing officer for Zagat. She came to Zagat from Reed Business (parent company of Daily Variety and Variety), where she was chief marketing officer.
