Alphabet soars with 'Stars'
HOLLYWOOD — One week from its finale, ABC’s hot competition skein “Dancing With the Stars” soared to ratings highs Wednesday night, standing as the summer’s top series telecast to date.
“Dancing” racked up series-best scores of a 5.6 rating/17 share in adults 18-49 and 18.59 million viewers overall — up 27% week-to-week in the demo, according to Nielsen.
Numbers easily make the episode the summer’s top-rated series telecast and No. 1 program overall among women 18-49 (8.0/22). Only Game 7 of the NBA Finals last week on ABC has rated higher this summer in adults 18-49 (7.6/23) and total viewers (19.00m).
Finale, pitting actor John O’Hurley and partner Charlotte Jorgensen against former Playboy Playmate Kelly Monaco and partner Alex Mazo, is set for Wednesday.
The WB’s “Beauty and the Geek,” another hot unscripted Wednesday series whose finale is on tap for next week, continued to perform well (1.9/7 in 18-49, 3.92m). It again led the 8 o’clock hour in persons 12-34 (2.0/8).
At Fox, firstrun drama “The Inside” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 4.17m) remained fourth in 18-49 for the 9 o’clock hour but was up slightly week-to-week and placed second to “Dancing With the Stars” in men 18-34 (1.8/6).
MTV’s premiere of “Made: I Want to Be a Rapper” put up solid numbers (0.9/3 in 18-49, 2.12m), racking up a 5 share in adults 18-34 and placing first for the 10 o’clock hour in persons 12-34 (1.9/7, tied with ABC’s “Lost” repeat) and males 12-34 (1.5/5).
