HOLLYWOOD — After a series of supporting film roles, Cedric the Entertainer has learned it’s good to be king.
At Wednesday’s “The Honeymooners” preem Cedric was pleased to have finally stepped into the top spot: “Financially, it’s definitely better to be the lead. That’s a known fact.”
Cedric was Par’s first pick to play the Ralph Kramden role. “By having a black cast, we retain the spirit of the originals but bring the story into the 21st century,” said producer David Friendly, on hiatus from shooting “Big Momma’s House 2.”
Friendly said the casting decision was not made lightly: “Any time you mess with an icon, you’d better get it right.”
