Barak restructures team
Newly appointed CBS Paramount business affairs chief Deborah Barak has restructured her team, recruiting a former CBS exec and upping two more staffers.
As part of the revamp, ex-CBS Entertainment biz affairs exec Dan Kupetz has returned to the fold, rejoining Viacom as senior VP of business affairs for Paramount Network TV. Meanwhile, CBS Entertainment biz affairs VPs Gary Silver and Roni Mueller have been bumped up to senior VP at the network.
All three execs report to Barak, who was named exec VP of business affairs for CBS Paramount Network TV Entertainment Group last fall (Daily Variety, Oct. 7).
Barak lured Kupetz back to the Eye fold to help handle Paramount’s increasing production load; he’ll now head up Par TV’s biz affairs department. The studio’s output has dramatically increased this season now that it’s part of CBS.
Kupetz previously served as VP of biz affairs at CBS Entertainment.
Exec first joined CBS in November 1999 as associate director of business affairs.
Silver and Mueller, meanwhile, will oversee pilot, series, movies, specials and music deals at CBS.
Silver had served as VP of business affairs at the net since February 1998.
Mueller first joined CBS in 2002 as a special projects exec in the business affairs department; he was named VP in 2003.
