‘Banks’ draws more interest in 2nd week

'Stewart' simmers in key demos

In its second week “The Tyra Banks Show” gained momentum. For the week ending Sept. 25 skein was up 18% in households to a 1.3 rating. In key demos, “Tyra” was up 25% among women 18-49 to a 1.0.

Meanwhile, ratings for “The Martha Stewart Show” were down significantly in households and key demos.

The show, which had a 390,000 average program decline, was down 15% from previous week to a 1.7 rating for the week ending Sept. 25. In key demos, “Martha” was down 18% among women 18-49 to a 0.8.

“Judge Alex,” the third new show to launch nationally this season, was down 5% from its previous week preem to a 2.0.

Returning entertainment newsmagazine firstrun strips saw a boost in ratings due to their coverage of the primetime Emmy Awards.

“Entertainment Tonight” had its best week since May sweeps, gaining 11% to a 4.9 rating.

“The Insider” was up 4% to a 2.6, its highest rating in 15 weeks. Additionally the show had the biggest year-to-year improvement, up 13% compared with last year at this time, which was also Emmy week.

“Access Hollywood,” which had its best rating since the week ending May 29, was up 14% to a 2.4. “Extra” went unchanged at 2.2.

Among talkshows, “Oprah” kicked off her 20th season with a 7, which was up 9% from the week ending Sept. 18 but down 4% from the Sept. 4 time period. Although the show did not preem at this time last year, this year’s preem was down 10% from last year’s preem.

“Dr. Phil” was up 6% at 5.3, while “Live with Regis and Kelly” also climbed to a 3.3 rating.

Both “The Maury Show” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” went unchanged at 2.7 and 2.2, respectively. “Ellen” had largest year-to-year improvement of any talker, up 22% over last year at this time.

Off-net sitcoms “Bernie Mac” and “My Wife and Kids” were each up 5% to a 2.1 rating.

“Sex and the City” and “South Park” debuted in off-net syndication with a 2.0 and 1.4 respectively.

Additionally, “Alias” preemed at a 2.5 rating, while “Smallville” and “Stargate Atlantis” debuted at a 1.7 and 1.2, respectively.
