Profs will each receive a grant worth $25,000
Stuart Liebman and Emily Thompson have been tapped as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ sixth pair of Academy film scholars.
Profs, who were selected on the basis of their proposals for new scholarly works, will each receive a grant worth $25,000.
Liebman, a media studies professor at Queens College of the City U. of New York, will write a cultural history of Holocaust cinema.
Thompson, an associate professor of history at UC San Diego, will focus on the transition to sound from the perspective of film technicians.
The first half of each grant will be presented at a luncheon Jan. 6 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
