Spike TV has greenlit “Super Agent,” a reality show centered on nine sports agents vying to sign USC football player and blue-chip NFL draft pick Shaun Cody.
Eight-episode elimination series, slated to premiere July 20, will whittle down nine agents to one by sending them through a gauntlet of challenges that test their negotiating skills, ability to evaluate football talent and handling of personal relationships with friends and families.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Tony Gonzales hosts and will serve as Cody’s adviser.
“This series lifts the curtain on the intriguing decisionmaking process top athletes go through in deciding on an agent,” said Spike exec VP of programming and production Kevin Kay.
In each episode, agents who don’t impress Cody will be eliminated. Series culminates on NFL Draft Day, when Cody starts his career with a new team.
NBC Universal Domestic TV Distribution produces, with Jack Bechta, Josh Ripple, Tami Holzman and Rick DeOliveira exec producing. Jordan Harman is the exec in charge of production for Spike.
