Shelley Long is back in front of the cameras, booking a guest turn on David E. Kelley’s “Boston Legal.”
Elsewhere at ABC, net has decided to use “Legal’s” Sunday timeslot to launch midseason drama “Grey’s Anatomy.”
As for Long, ex-“Cheers” thesp is set to play Miriam Watson, a prim and proper woman who finds herself charged with having sex for money. “Legal” eagles Schmidt (Candice Bergen) and Crane (William Shatner) end up defending her in the seg, which is lensing now with an eye toward a March 20 airdate.
Role reps Long’s first major TV gig since making headlines for checking into a hospital last November after an adverse reaction to a pain pill.
As for “Grey’s,” medical drama will bow March 27 in “Legal’s” 10 p.m. Sunday timeslot following “Desperate Housewives.” ABC plans to air “Grey’s” on Sundays for four weeks rather than run “Legal” repeats; “Legal” will return with a final run of original segs on April 24.
ABC hasn’t yet said where it plans to slot “Grey’s” once “Legal” returns.
