AAC gets new money man

Lazzarato to replace retiring Martin

TORONTO — Alliance Atlantis Communications has tapped exec David Lazzarato as its chief financial officer and exec VP, replacing Judson Martin, who is retiring for health reasons.

Lazzarato, who takes over at the end of the month, was exec VP and chief financial officer of Allstream, previously known as AT&T Canada.

“We weren’t necessarily looking for someone with media experience,” said AAC chairman and chief exec Michael MacMillan. “We wanted a seasoned CFO.”

MacMillan thanked Martin for his six years at AAC. “The company has benefited greatly from Jud’s expertise,” he said.

Martin steered the company through the merger between Alliance and Atlantis, the spinoff of the movie distribution biz into an income trust and AAC’s operational restructuring away from production and into broadcasting.
