The Lewises are vacationing at the Sands in Las Vegas — and probably won’t be back in time for the event. No comment … A.C. Lyles and Martha Schaefer tie the knot this weekend. (And indeed they did, May 3, 1955 — at the Little Brown Church in the Valley where Ronnie and Nancy Reagan were married three years before. The Reagans and James and wife “Bill” Cagney stood up for A.C. and Martha, who just celebrated their 50th wedding anni, Tuesday. And SHARE celebrates its 52nd anni, May 14, 2005, that is, with a gala bash at the Palladium). … James Dean sent a bouquet of birds of paradise to ailing Lucy Marlow … After their first date, at the “SAC” preem, Hugh O’Brian flipped over Carol Ohmart, rapturizing, “She’s like perfume, if we could bottle her we could make a million.” Ain’t love grand? (Hugh O’Brian just celebrated his 80th birthday this year, 2005, and to celebrate, he holds a HOBY — Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership — fundraising bash at the Gene Autry Museum, June 25) … Kathryn Grayson got a traffic ticket for over-parking at the beauty shoppe where she was getting gussied up for the “SAC” preem … Janet and Tony Curtis’ bath towels are labeled “Boss” and “Slave.” Yeah, but which is whose? (Reminder, the above was my column of April 29, 1955.)
