‘Walk’ on kudos path

Cash honored by peers, thesps

HOLLYWOOD — Fox began strolling “I Walk the Line” into awards season with Tuesday’s “A Night for Johnny Cash” concert hosted by stars Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix at the Pantages.

“The film depicts the journey of his life,” said Fox co-topper Jim Gianopulos. “Tonight is all about the music.”

Though the concert was plagued by the momentum-killing breaks of a TV taping (the show airs Nov. 16 on CBS), there were strong perfs from Alison Krauss, Jerry Lee Lewis, Kid Rock, Shooter Jennings, Jessie Colter, Martina McBride, Dwight Yoakam, Norah Jones and Kris Kristofferson.
