GM to sponsor summer concerts
General Motors will sponsor two outdoor performance venues to be called “Pontiac Garage” in New York and Hollywood for ABC’s latenight talker “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Partnership announcement follows a surprise rooftop performance by Jet in the Pontiac Garage East in Times Square Tuesday night.
Pop icon Billy Idol will perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live’s” Pontiac Garage West in Hollywood tonight. Two songs will be broadcast on the show; fans attending will hear the entire concert.
Pontiac Garage West will present at least 30 artists, including Queens of the Stone Age, Jack Johnson and the Transplants.
Pontiac marketing director Mark-Hans Richer said the “Kimmel” deal will help associate the Pontiac with “new and established bands,” giving latenight viewers “new music choices,” and presumably new cars, to consider.
