Banner's first release will be techno-thriller 'Phreaker'
Ruffhouse Records co-founder Joe Nicolo will spearhead a group of partners in launching feature distributor Kindred Media Group.
Partners in new venture include Jeffrey Erb, who will head the company; his longtime associate Robert Robinson Jr.; producer-thesp Frank Vitolo; Dani Englander, heading up theatrical distribution; and Brett Donowho.
Banner’s first release will be “Phreaker,” a techno-thriller helmed and written by Mark Young and starring Eric Wippo of MTV’s “Boiling Points.” Pic, focused on the questionable activities of a young entrepreneur, will have limited theatrical release in early 2006. Kindred acquired movie from Tasty Pixels, a Charlotte, N.C., producer.
Execs said privately financed company, based in West Hollywood and Eagleville, Penn., will have broad focus, considering all sizes and genres of film.
Exec Englander’s blood ties to the McCall family, which owns Marquee Cinemas and All-Star Cinemas, are expected to aid Kindred in procuring theatrical distribution for its projects.
