Essig, Huie, Rose upped
CAA has upped three of its music agents.Rod Essig and John Huie will oversee the company’s Nashville office and country and faith-based music initiatives. Mitch Rose will oversee the agency’s contemporary music initiatives in Beverly Hills and New York. All three will report to managing partner Rob Light, who will continue to head up the music and personal appearances division. “Rod, John and Mitch have been great partners in building this department and have been at my side for many years,” Light said. “This new structure provides us with the best team to help guide the department’s future and allows me to focus on opportunities for our clients in a dynamic and changing marketplace.” Prior to joining CAA in 1993, Essig was vice president and owner of Variety Artists Intl. He was recently elected president of the Academy of Country Music. Huie ran ICM’s Contemporary Music Division for five years. In 1992, Huie moved to Nashville to assist in opening what was then the only satellite office for CAA outside of Beverly Hills. Since that time, the CAA Nashville office has grown to become a dominant force in both country and faith-based music. Rose joined CAA in 1982 as a trainee in the mailroom. After two years, he was promoted to agent. Upon becoming an agent, he helped form CAA’s music department.
