New Guy takes over for Reichardt
LONDON — EMI Music Publishing U.K. has named Guy Moot managing director. He will take over from Peter Reichardt, who is leaving at the end of May after 16 years in charge.
Moot, who was exec veep, A&R, for the U.K. and Europe, joined the company in 1987 as A&R manager. Company was then known as SBK but was purchased by EMI in 1989.
Moot has signed artists including Sean Paul, Jamie Cullum, Ms. Dynamite, Amy Winehouse, Prodigy, Jamiroquai, Kasabian, Scissor Sisters and Eminem.
“Guy is an extraordinarily talented executive whose track record in the business is astonishing,” said Martin Bandier, chairman-CEO of EMI Music Publishing, in a statement. Reichardt is expected to have a break before taking up another role in the music industry, most likely as a consultant.
He began his career in 1973 at Elektra Records. Three years later, he moved into music publishing as professional manager for Warner Bros. Music, where he eventually became managing director, a title he retained when the company merged with Chappell Music in 1987. He joined EMI Music publishing in 1989.
