Waters to direct ‘Mitty’

Paramount has chosen Mark Waters (“Freaky Friday,” “Mean Girls”) to direct its remake of “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” Waters will direct from a script by Richard LaGravanese, based on the 1947 comedy in which Danny Kaye played a timid man who daydreamed of being a swashbuckling hero. The original was based on a short story by humorist James Thurber.
